| Welcome to PoonTangle X! |
|
|
The tenth annual PoonTangle will be held May 7 & 8, 2010! Come early and/or stay late...just make plans to attend. This website will give you all the information you need to join us for the fun.
Our Charity this Year
Our charity organization is Casting for Recovery and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. Over the last three PoonTangles we raised close to $10,000, which resulted in close to $20,000 thanks to Orvis' generous matching program! Help us do even better this year. We'll have two fund-raising activities again this year: a raffle and a silent auction. All money raised by the raffle and silent auction (and a portion of your registration fee) will go to Casting for Recovery and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. All registrants will get a raffle ticket and anyone can buy additional raffle tickets for $5 each. As always, we have some wonderful prizes for the raffle.
The silent auction items will be available to view and bid on Friday and Saturday till just before the raffle begins. We already have commitments from PT business sponsors for donations of several very nice items for the silent auction.
What a great opportunity to win or buy some terrific items while supporting Casting for Recovery and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust! Bring your checkbooks and plan to dig deep for these wonderful organizations!
Special Thanks
Our relatively small group of fly fishing enthusiasts would not be able to raise the large sums that we do were it not for many companies, large and small, that have donated items through the years. For example, Rick Pope/Temple Fork Outfitters has donated a lion's share of our auction and raffle items every year beginning when he featured only one rod, the Series 1. And Rick donates significantly to Casting for Recovery, in addition to helping us. His generosity has meant a lot to us and to those who benefit from our fund raising.Ray Bauer/Global dorbeR Group has also donated every year after our first year. The same can be said for Chris Windram/Salterwater Flies and our South African friend, Cliff Rochester/The Fishient Group. Fly Fisherman has also been a supporter from our earliest years. Others who have sponsored us for as many as four or five years are Islander Reels, Mustad, Okuma, Old Wooden Bridge Marina, George Anderson/Yellowstone Angler, Tim Borski, Jim and Donna Teeny, and Scientific Anglers. There have been smaller fly shops that have donated rods and reels for which they have paid the manufacturer's dealer price. Very special of them.
We also have benefitted from individuals who have contributed to our efforts. Please see and partronize all of our sponsors as you are able. A click on their logos will take you to their company web sites. We are very indebted to all.
Food and Drinks
Opportunities to socialize begin Thursday, which has turned into a rousing party for those who arrive on site early. Come help Kathy, Ardis, Robyn, and Martha "stuff goodie bags" at Bob and Kathy's house. On Friday night we all go to Jim and Jean's to experience Jean's artistry in the kitchen and Jim's Road-Kill specialties while finalizing plans for the next day's fishing!
Saturday night we're back at Bob and Kathy's for the PT final finale--the silent auction, BBQ dinner, and raffle. If you'd like to enjoy the now legendary Buttonwood Bob "Bombers," please consider bringing a bottle of rum (any quality) to any night's festivities.
